Job Description 

We are searching for a top caliber Restaurant Chief Operating Officer to lead this private company into the future. The need to honor and respect our well-established culture and values is a must, and a clear understanding of current restaurant systems and trends with a vision for the future is also a prerequisite.

Community involved for over 30 years, this position is based out of the south Bay area (San Jose) and currently responsible for 5 restaurants, with the possibility of more to come! Strategy Leadership/Management: Drives profitable growth and ensures long-term vitality of the business via strategy and effective management. Sets, recommends and implements business strategy, short- and long-term objectives and goals; develops presents and accomplishes approved annual plan and provides leadership for senior team. Knows the business model, business drivers and mission, critical technical and functional skills needed to do the job at various levels in management of the organization.

Decision Making/Authority: Reports directly to owners. Makes leadership decisions including all issues related to effective capital expenditures and investment, business operations, talent and human resources and contract/asset acquisition, retention and new revenue streams. Builds rapport with people and establish relationships while moving towards problem resolution. Works towards consensus by establishing shared goals and win-win solutions.

Business/Financial Results: Drives profitable and effective operations, strategies and initiatives to ensure financial success. Establishes effective business model and organization structure to deliver results for all units. Positions the organization to remain competitive or market leader. Develops both short- and long-term strategies that move the business to desired profit and competitive state. Ensures short-term and long-term implementation plans are in place and executed to support strategy.

Compliance: Ensures Company has systems and controls, policy and processes are in place to achieve regulatory requirements including financial, human resources, operating, technology etc.

Team Leadership & Development: Serves as the leader to ensure recruiting and retention strategies match short and long-term business needs; enables training, coaching, development and direction for associates to achieve the highest level of contribution to organization.

Relationship Management: Builds and maintains key relationships with guests, community, team members, management members and industry to ensure Company is positioned effectively in the marketplace. Keeps the guest (internal and external) in the forefront of their thinking at all times.

Requirements Ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Executive/Senior Management role (5 years’ experience); restaurant industry experience, serving as Director of Ops, VP of Ops, or COO.
  • College degree in associated field.
  • Ability and desire to build community relations and promote the growth of the concept within and outside of the four walls.
  • Superior working understanding of industry financials (building sales, product costs, labor management, etc.)
  • Excellent people and communication skills. Leadership that reflects our core values: teamwork, equal treatment of all, honesty, willingness to go above and beyond in support of team members, open and honest communication style.
  • Strong guest-oriented philosophy at all times.

Salary Range & Benefits

  • Starting salary commensurable with experience. Target salary band is $140k to $150k.

Job Description 

We’ve acquired a very exciting new search for a Restaurant Director of Operations position for this iconic Seattle based, rapidly expanding QSR concept. Currently 15 units and more are coming! Founded 30 years ago, this company offers authentic recipes right out of America’s South and a genuine dedication to quality.

The high esteem for the brand, combined with strong concept components and excellent unit economics, provides solid positioning for expansion. More aggressive expansion is planned: four units in 2016, eight in 2017, and higher numbers in subsequent years.  The company intends to penetrate new markets within the next two years, on its way to becoming a genuine national brand.

A senior executive, with abundant experience growing food-service brands, has joined the founders to lead this concept’s growth. The company’s plans depend heavily on a highly-effective Director of Operations to assume the responsibilities of daily operations.  The rate of growth, and the success of new units, will be a direct function of the Director’s abilities.  Additionally, this person will be viewed as a possible successor to the President’s chair.

Requirements Ideal candidate must have the following:

  • Minimum of 3 years of food service Director of Operations experience.
  • Able to execute on high standards and procedures.
  • Exhibit strong people skills…likeable, enthusiastic and caring.
  • Personally display a guest 1st mindset.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive growth while continuously improving guest satisfaction.
  • Proven track record in maintaining strong cost controls, and quality standards.
